Still Aboard H.M.S.
Oct 22/41
Hello Folks
Well we're in sight of Great Britain tonight and no need to tell you how thankful to be arriving as we know what war is now.
This is just an addition to the letter enclosed and I'm sending them air mail. However as official mail has priority over personal mail it may be some time, before you receive it. However, I'm hoping it will go right through. I don't expect to write many of them though because it is doubtful if much time is saved. We expect to land and travel through most of Scotland and England before we arrive at a manning depot for distribution through the country shortly after.
It's important to tell you about the trip but as for myself I'm well and O.K. but I'll be glad to get my clothes off for a change and have a good shower and clean up.
There may have been one or two things I have forgotten to bring or could use but I'll let you know soon as we're settled.
I am sending a cablegram tomorrow and hope that it will allay any fears you may have had - if any.
Hope everyone is well and not working too hard. Will be writing again soon.
Love to you all - xxxxxx George
