Diary

June 11 - Fish traps set and most of the boys went swimming and to drive the fish into the traps. Had fish dinners for three days running as a result. Then a rider from the north arrives to say that General Strange wants to know why our regiment hadn't joined his forces as ordered. A mix-up somewhere. General Middleton's orders from the south and General Strange's orders from the north seemed to be far apart. So our colonel ordered the rider to take Strange's message on to Middleton and we went to sleep.
