LETTERS FROM THE FRONT.

Lance Corp. J.F. Davidson writes.

Miss Jessie Davidson, Cold Springs, has received the following letter from her brother, Lance Corp. J.F. Davidson, wht.ch we feel sure will be read with interest by many friends:

Bramshot Camp, Feb. 6th, 1916. (England)

Just a few lines to say that your box that you sent about 1st of December arrived O.K. last night and believe me it is very much appreciated for we don't get much home cooking over here or any home made candy, or good Canadian tobacco, so I am just enjoying myself to-day writing letters, reading, smoking and eating when I feel like it. I have several other letters to write when I finish this. I wrote you also on Monday last so I guess you will think I am getting real good all at once, - two letters in one week. But the best of it all is that I am well, fat and happy and see a good prospect of being back by the end of this year. When I lay aside my uniform you can bet I will be one happy boy, as the life is not all pleasure and this country and weather is dreadful to live in. I would rather face the cold that we have in Calgary than rain everyday and mud everywhere.

I have seen a few boys from Eastern Canada and Ontario, but never run across anybody that I knew or heard of before. The easiest way, if you know their regiment or battery is to enquire, if they are in your camp then go and hunt them up. So if there is anybody you want me to look up, let me know what unit they belong to and I can find them.
I have several chums in the trenches now and I hear from them every two weeks or so. I do most of my writing on Sunday as that is my slack day as far as work is concerned. But do you know there is very little to write about here that would interest you except that I may be penned up any day now as a lot of the boys are in quarantine with measles. As I am in the store I may escape, but do not be surprised if you do not get any letters for awhile after this one as you can never tell what may happen in this life. Love to all home and best regards to all friends.
LANCE-CORP. J.F. DAVIDSON.
