#5 Manning Depot, Lachine, P. Q.

September 8, 1943

Dear Mom,

Thanks a million, Mom, for the book, shaving cream and birthday card. I received some War Stamps from Aunt Pheobe for my birthday, and Marie sent me a cake.

I went roller skating in Lachine. It's just like ice skating, now that I've got the hang of it. Just before writing this letter, I returned from Lachine, where I listened to Mart Kenny and his orchestra being broadcast over the radio.

Love, Lewis.
