My dear Dorothy:

I have not been in receipt of any letters from you or mother since I came to the above address. I do not know how long I shall remain in this place. As I have already explained I am on clerical work. There is an election coming off soon, which may cause me to be busy. I have already been on duty in connection with the soldiers' poll in B.C.

With regard to the loan to which I subscribed (50 00 dollars): it appears you will not receive the bond or certificate before the middle of January. This was a great disappointment to me as I had figured on allowing you to have it for a Christmas present. However you will get it for sure then.

I am sending you with which you can buy something for you and mother.

I hope that you and mother will have a good holiday this year.

I myself am feeling in good condition. As far as I can foresee we may prepare for two more years of war. Conscription is now in force in Canada, with heavy numbers of exemptions. I hope you and mother are well. With best love

Your loving Brother
Willie
