My dearest Mother

I am mighty sorry to hear of Uncle John's collapse It is without doubt serious at his age. I am writing only to tell you of my change of address I go tomorrow to "Byng Boys" (Canadian General) Hospital Taplow, near London and will send detailed address from there. "The question of leave of absence will be considered" there. I am going to let you into a secret. I believe that I will soon be able to assure you that as far as active service is concerned "Othello's occupation's gone" In the meantime don't worry U.S.A. will be at war I venture to say before 20th inst.
Your loving Willie
