May 4/17 Dear Mother Just a line to let you know I am well hopeing you and John are the same I received your letter of April 4 a few days ago and was glad to hear from you tell John I am going to write him a letter some of those days but we are keep so busy we dont have much time to ourself and the Officers dont have much time to be censoring a lot of mail thats why I dont like to write a long letter. Well we are haveing summer weather over here now but we had an awfull winter snow and rain and cold I never felt the cold as bad in all my life as I did in this country. Well Mother what do you think of this war I suppose fed up the same as every body is. Well I think I will have to close for this time so good bye for now. remember me to all at home I remain your Loven Son Owen P.S. I never seen Harry yet
