Dear Sis.

Just a few lines to let you know I am still a live. Things are pretty lively here with us. We are sure giving Fritz all he wants now. I have been in one scrap and just out on rest getting ready for another. It is a wonder you wouldn't write a letter oftener don't tell me you haven't got the time how do you think we got time to write under fire. There is always time for everything my friend was killed in the last push which makes it pretty lonesome for me. He was with me every place I went. You never know what minute you are a dead man here. Shells burst around you that would blowup a building the size of a house. Tell May I got her letter and will answer it sometime in the next six months for she has been so long in answering mine. They may talk about this war being over this winter but don't let any body kid you about that for it may last 3 or 4 more months yet. Did you get my photo I guess this is all for now for they are around to get the mail and I want this to go today.
