Dear Mom & Dad,
Please forgive me for not writing for so long. I have your letters of October 4 and 24 here unanswered. I answered your letter of the tenth, on the 16, as soon as I got it. I went on leave again from the 19 to the 28 of October. I was 5 hours A.W.O.L. after my pass expired because of the trains and I got 4 days C.B. which means extra duties & restricted privileges. I have to report at 6.45 A.M. then carry on from 8 - 5 at the hangar as usual, then report at 6 for extra work till 8. Also I have to report at 9 and again at 10 to ensure my staying on the camp. It was a bother at first because it's miles between the campsite, the mess, the hangars, and the guard-room, but I've bought a bicycle yesterday for £3, so getting around is no problem now. We are supposed to have issue bikes but I don't think there are any here just now. I had a fairly good leave in L'pool but it's so cold and wet there was nothing to do in the daytime while Marg. was working. I spent last Thursday afternoon to Friday morning with Aunt Molly. She is much better now and asked to be remembered to every one there. I will write an ordinary letter tomorrow if I can & enclose a picture I had taken in B'mouth. I hope this finds everyone well.
Your loving son, Joe.
