Dear Mother:

I have just finished five days leave - my first since Christmas and it was badly needed.
Re boredom at Evanton please cancel. - I have even been north of the Arctic Circle in Norway, as well as the south. We also saw the British Infantry Force safely home from Dunkirk. Sorry more letters have not been written, but I just can't get around to it. How is everyone at 1608 keeping? I still think of you all. I have had the honour of leading my own flight in many actions and the aircraft has a half-dozen holes which are patched and swastikas painted on each by my crew.
I had a wonderful leave and met many nice people. Gina Murphy, a Canadian girl from Montreal, is writing you to tell you what I look like. She is one of the hostesses at the Canadian Club. She took a P/O friend of mine and myself out in the country and looked after us in grand style.

Best of love to all the family.
