At 2 AM got orders to attack at 4:20. Got Coy out and extended over 600 yards. Attacked as ordered and went 1200 yards to road and strong point. Captured scores of prisoners and MGs. Lost some men killed and a lot wounded. Held position until noon and had to retire as our left flank was not protected. I got hit on retirement by 2 MG bullets in left side. Got out about 2 PM and back to CCS about 7 PM. Not serious. Battalion took our position second time and only held it 2 hours. Took it third time and held all night. Captured 300 prisoners in the day and many guns.
