My dear Mrs Walsh:-

With your heart bleeding with grief over the death of your husband (I take it you have been notified by the War Office) any words that I may write will be of very little comfort to you in your deep sorrow. Owen Walsh was killed in action on April 20th just after we got into the trenches on that tour. We were eight days in and hence my delay. It may be of some comfort to you to know that he was to his duties - Confession and Communion - just before he went up to the trenches. Besides we got his body out and buried it in a cemetery with many others. There is a cross marking his grave. And in happier days when this war is over you will be able to get a photograph of the grave where he lies. Let us pray that his soul is happy and may God help you my dear woman in your trouble.
Yours very sincerely in the Lord
Miles N Tompkins Capt.
R.C. Chaplain
