Dear Mother:-

I received your letter with clippings and paper, along with a letter from Peggy the other day and the lot certainly interested me for a while: Tell Peggy the snaps were fine, and I hope she sends some more another time. Well I’m glad to know all is well about the house and that such good results are coming from the garden You must have had a pretty hot time with the heat and storms at the Peg this summer. The old Paint Glass mill was burnt too eh? I’m sure it did not take long for that to go up in smoke. What did you think of Miss Stinson. One sees so many of those things over here (both of course) that you get tired watching them. The sky seems alive with them at times by the hum of the engines and when the artillery open upon them, hundred of shells go bursting about them

One of you letter written July 2nd reached me the other day along with one from Bert written June 9th. I also got a box of Candy from Edith and they were fine. I heard from Art Webb too he seemed to be fed up with Sewell and was [?] waiting for harvest leave to come along. The description of those two Ginks going harvesting was about right but not quite so bad with me. Now did Flo find Gimili?

I would imagine the weather would drive a lot out to camp. We haven’t had a good hard rainstorm for some time Here and it is just the sort of weather they need for their crops which they are busy cutting at present. Well mother.

I’ve not much news this time but am still in the best of health I hope they are the same at the house and give my regards to all. Hoping you keep well and will write again soon. I am as ever

Your loving son

P.S. Will write Peggy in a couple of days expect your parcel tonight over

P.S. Your parcel just arrived mother, and the contents are fine when sending any that about the size and smaller if anything. I will be able to enjoy my self now for some time. Many thanks.
