Monday, September 10th.

Yesterday left the ‘drome at noon and drove by tender about fifty miles away to bring back a new machine from the aircraft depot. I had quite a wait there and finally got the machine and flew back, arriving here at 5 P.M. Got tea, and went on a two hour patrol at six o'clock but the Huns were very scarce and we only had some bad "Archie" to contend with. On coming down I dressed for dinner and owing to guests being here (we have them about three nights a week!) I didn't get to my tent until 11.30 and was so dead tired.

Got up early for a show but it was cancelled at the last minute. Today another chap flew my machine and came down with a broken crank, so my bus is laid up! However, I have another one now, quite as good I believe.
