Dear Mr. Irwin

Arrived here safe and sound, and with a longing to talk with the boys, and get back to the drill. It is very nice to get a few holidays and see your friends at home, but after being with the army for a few months there is a longing in your heart to get back again, and I only hope that next xmas I shall be in Berlin (Germany) for xmas dinner instead of Canada. From the way things are progressing in favor of the allies, there is no doubt but what we will be there and with the Havenly Fathers guidance there is nothing to hinder us. New Years day was a splendid and grand day here, the weather was real fine could not have had better The Daughters of the Empire gave us a fine Dinner I will not try to explain all but will enclose a Menu and you can see what we had for yourself I have passed my examinations all O.K. and I only hope I succeed with my second exam. [B] as I did with my first exam. [A] I had a long talk with Pte Doxie and he is very anxious to hear any news there was around Norwood but always seems to be so busy that he never seems to have many moments to himself. Remember me to Mrs. Irwin and all the boys and all the Members of the League will close with wishing you the Compliments of the Season.

Yours very truly

Pte. Louis Norris
