 Dear Mr Irwine

Just a few line in answer to your letter dated Nov 26 17. Very glad to know that all at home are getting along alright

Yes I was hit last Oct but it was not much to speak about & everything it going along alright

Yes I received your letter dated Sept 3rd but was sorry I could not answer it sooner.  I was very busy.

Anyway I am answering this one in return of post so as not to keep you waiting for your answer;

Glad to say I was with Howard last week & he seems to be getting along alright but has left here for the front line a few days ago so I hope he will make good.

I also met your son Corrall a few days ago he as also gone to the same palce.

Glad to say that I am staying at the Base. I also hope to return home very shortly so they say I am not fit for the trenches again.

I also met some of the Scriber Boys & they seem to be going along fine and dandy & quite happy the same as the other Boys are & that is the only way to be out here & make the best of things.

If ever you write again dont forget to put the right number that is 1027682 as it is hard to get the letter here.

I guess that is all I’ve got to tell you this time so well close wishing you the very best of good luck.

Please remember me & all the Boys

I remain

Yours sincerely

Pte Bill McMaster
