Dearest Mother

just a line to say I rec the two Parcels all O.K. in A.I. condition, and they are fine, I am saving them for Xmas day, I had some of the Coffee for Breakfast this morning & liked it, I think the Xmas cake is fine. also the cigarettes came in very good as you can hardly buy cigarettes over here at all now, Players any way, you can’t get them for love or money, every thing was in A.I. Condition, and got them both on same day, I had a letter from Aunt Bert McPhee & she is sending me a parcel she said in her letter that she posted it the same day as the letter, so I should get it right after Xmas, I rec yours two days ago.: so was just in good time, have not hurt from Dad this Xmas yet, But I might hear next week, We all have four days off for Xmas from Friday night untell Wedensday morning. I was off Thursday to go to wedding of one of my chums I was best man. & rec a nice match case from him (Silver) the wedding took place 54 miles out in country, and had a very nice time, & the Brides Maid is all gone on me, (But I say nix.) But I guess I will have to get them a Wedding present as soon as I get some more Money., I have put in for a six days pass at New Years time to go to Scotland (Edinburgh.) that is if I can get a free warent to travel on train, so hope I can go just to see Scotland befor I go back to Canada again, I was up to Mrs Jones place. And done all her Xmas shoping for her, Lottie is geting better, But not out of bed yet, Will be up there for Xmas, can’t have any Turkey this year going to have beef, The Turkeys are to dear, it is a lovely day today. am going out to take some Photos (snaps). so must close & go wiell the sun shines, Will Write you again after Xmas, With love to all I am as ever your Loving Son Harold
