Dear Joan and John:

Just a few lines to let you know that all goes well. Winnie Brown wrote a nice letter to me yesterday. She said their new ranch is one hundred and sixty miles north of Calgary and seventeen miles from Big Valley which is on the C.N.R. and is their nearest station. She owns two calves and six young pigs so you see there is some fun being on a farm when you can own some of the stock eh?

How do you like high-school work Joan? I learnt more in one term at high school than I learnt in all of my life at school. Also how goes the music?

Dug. Is feeling fine just the same as myself. He is with a very nice lot of fellows.

We were billeted in funny little huts with round sheet iron roofs not long ago. Dug. and the fellows were having a great time in them one night. One of the fellows would get on his hands and knees. The other fellows would take turns in turning somersaults over him!

I heard from Aunt Florrie the other day. She said that Mum and Helen were having a great old time down at the coast.

Bub. Watt often writes. He is out here somewhere and we hope to meet one day. I see by the paper that Mr. Richardson has been wounded.

With best of love, from
