To Pte. Ernest Hopper.

Dear Friend;-

We, a few of your friends and neighbours have assembled here this evening to show, in some manner, our appreciation of what you have done and intend doing for us in the Future.

We all know the Liberty of our Country is threatened, and we feel proud to know we have men like you, who are brave enough to answer the call, “Your King and Country Need You.”

We feel we would not be doing our Duty, if we did not avail ourselves of this opportunity. We therefore ask you to accept this razor, as a small token of the esteem of your friends and neighbours.

We hope it may remind you of us when far away, and, when the war is over, which we trust may be soon, you will return again.

In the meantime we shall not cease to pray that God may protect and keep you.

Signed on behalf of your friends and neighbours:-

Florence Parliament. Zaida Lawler. Eugenia.

Oct. 3rd. 1916.
