Dear Mom,

I just got back from a very wonderful visit to Edinburgh to see Betty . I had a three day pass. On Saturday afternoon we went for a long walk outside the city, and stopped for tea at a little tea room caned "The Ingles". In the evening we went dancing at a hall that she suggested, "The New Cavendish", a really swell place with a good orchestra and a beautiful floor and surroundings.

The next day, being Sunday and misty, we spent in front of the fireplace reading and talking. That evening, although we intended to go to movie ( but found them an full), we got some ice cream, and Betty, having lemonade on hand, made some sodas. She played the piano and later we listened to programs on the radio. We really had a wonderful time altogether. I'd love to go back again on another leave, but I feel that I had better visit Wales first, and then go back to Betty's on a 72.

It's great to have some fun days scattered through the dull days.

Love, Lewis.
