Enroute to Ottawa
May 24/16
My dear Ethel,
A few lines to send to you at the first opportunity. I could not get a final glimpse of you as we were pulling out as the windows were all glued tight by the Varnish. I do so hope you will not fret on my account but look forward to our reunion. God bless you for your past life of unselfish service which none appreciate more than I which He knows how and when to reward. I write this lest in the stress of the last few years I have failed to make you realize how much I owe you and how fully I appreciate your love. Believe me dear Ethel, tho’ I have said all too little about it, which is my nature, all you are and have been to me appeal to me with a new force at this time of temporary parting. Hope and pray that it will not be for long as I do that God will care for you and the dear children. Busy yourself in every way possible and dont fret on account of my absence.
I would like you to teach the children the 23 Psalm calling it “Daddy’s Psalm” and I am sure you will realize the comfort of the wonderful words. I am writing this on the train and will try to mail it at Fort William. Pat Reynolds is on the train. He lives at Truro St. S. James now.
Good bye dear wife for a while. I will write you very often and God will heal your sore heart with love to the children and my undivided love for your self
I Remain
Ever your loving husband
