Dear Madam,

In further reply to your letter of 2nd July, 1919. I regret to say that the grave of Private W.E. Mawson has not yet been located, and all enquiries have so far proved unsuccessful.

The facts have been noted, and I will write to you again later on if any information is obtainable.

In the final clearing up of the battlefields, it is expected that the identity of unknown graves will in a great number of cases be established, and in addition many graves will be found which to date have not been reported and registered by my officers.

I am very sorry to not to be able to send you a more satisfactory reply.

I shall be glad if you will inform me which Branch of the War Office gave you the burial information.

Yours faithfully

Major,
for Major-General,
D.G.G.R.&E.
