My Dear Mother

Just a few lines in answerE to your very welcome Parcel & letter glad to here you are all well I was pleased to get the socks they are dandy. The bread was a little to much done, but it went down well just the same, I will be glad to have some any old time I can tell you I did not think enough of it when I could have got lots of it but I hope the same times will soon come again which I think will there is some word of Holland gaining with the Allies but we do not know for sure if it is right it will make a great deal of changes and I think it will finish the war a lot sooner. Dear Mother I am glad to here you enjoyed the drive down to Kilkeel, I had a letter from Sadie to-day and she was telling me B.E & you were well [?] since Xmas I am very pleased to here that for I am all the time thinking of you and thinking long to have another few days PASS to spend with you I hope it will be warmer weather the next time I go home so as we can have a nice drive down to Kilkeel & Finard, but the time may come a lot sooner than I expect I hope it will soon come along. Tell Annie I received the Cigarettes they just in the right time, I going on Guard to-morrow and perhaps I will have time to write her a letter I guess I will think I have clean forgotten her but I have not, she is still a good Friend to me and always has been. I miss one of my best Chums since he went to the Hospital with Rhumitzimit it is not the one I was going to bring to Ireland with me but he used to chum around with us in Canada, and both of us miss him very much but I hope he will soon be able to be with us again. Dear Mother I hope by the time this letter reaches you you will have got the Seperation Allonce, I think you should get it pretty soon you never said in your last letter if you were getting my half-pay regular but I guess you are getting it alright. I was very sorry to here about Alfie Wilson what happened to him or did he die sudden I guess his poor old Mother got an awful shock when she first got the word.
