Dear Family

Thanks very much for the cigarettes, which I had been praying for, and Winchesters too, which I havent seen for a long time. Also Nan, thank you for the cable and the paunch is under full control, thank you.

I think my mail is going to be very uncertain for a while as Im not with the unit as you can see from the address above. Luckily the cigarettes and arrived the day before I left. However, any change that happens, I'll let you know.

I'm afraid I missed Graham, Hairp, my time is very limited, I'll have to wait for a
I managed to see Kay for a few hours a couple of days ago, by a bit of wangling and --ck. She's very well and working very hard, as you can imagine.

A couple of days ago I managed to have a swim in a pool fairly nearby and was it ever swell. Also a few weeks ago, I had a dip in the ocean. The shorts you gave me for Xmas looked very dashing Nan, although maybe it was a good thing that the beach was fairly empty.

Gosh, I almost forgot; I got the snapshots, and they were swell. When I showed them to Kay, she was amazed that you're both so young. I don't know, but she must have expected to see a dear old white haired couple. As for John, I managed to spot him alright, but he's certainly grown up. I must admit, the only way I did spot him at all was by the tow-head.

I managed to get Kay a ring (I told you we consider ourselves engaged in my last letter), it was quite a job as there arent many to be had. It has 3 little diamonds and two little sapphyres in a row o?o?o Do you approve? She cant wear it very often, but I wanted her to have it.

This letter probably sounds vaguer than usual, but censorship is naturally pretty strict.

By the way, if you hear nay news of me, will you cable Kay, as she wont hear anything except indirectly.

Well, that's about all for now, I'll probably be able to write a bit oftener, as, at the moment, anyway, I have a fair amount of time on my hands and nowhere to go.
